Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple. People > Things

We love things; it’s why we make them. But that should never come at the expense of people or the environment. With every decision we remember our philosophy and make the best choice with those values in mind.

I believe that where the materials of the product are coming from is just as important as where the products live once they leave the shop. I want the customer to know where the raw materials are coming from, and what processes are being used before the materials ever get to my studio. Whenever possible we choose manufactures located in the United States.

Not only to promote U.S. jobs, but to help cut down on our carbon footprint. We select suppliers that have similar beliefs as us in terms of eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable practices. We understand that no process is perfect. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try our best to reduce waste, recycle when possible, and minimize our impact on the environment. And finally we will never compromise on the quality of the materials. Sourcing only the best in order to produce the products we are proud to make and you are proud to own.

About dale & blue

Serious home people

dale & blue makes luxury goods for home and life aiming to connect the heritage of our family with yours.

Founded with a simple philosophy: People over things.

We love things; it’s why we make them. But that should never come at the expense of the people who make them or the environment. With every decision we consider the deeper impact and make the best choice with those values in mind. Concentrating on craftsmanship and design we create heirloom products to last generations.

All pieces are designed, dyed, cut and sewn in our studio in Michigan.

Why dale and blue?

The company is named after my Grandfathers. Dale Jennings was my mom’s dad and Robert (Blue) Hylant was my dad’s dad. His nickname was Blue because he was such a huge Michigan fan and University of Michigan is my alma mater too! (GO BLUE) The name and company ethos pays tribute to all hard working women and men who have ever tried to build something for themselves instead of following the status quo.

About ME!

 Favorite Things…

Coffee (black and strong), can’t and won’t start my day without it! A great charcuterie board and by great, I mean any combination of meat and cheese and crackers. Northern Michigan and specifically Forest Beach, cozy blankets and chunky knit scarves.

 When I’m not working I’m most likely…

Watching all of food or crime shows on Netflix. Reading, napping or really any activity you can do from my bed. Oh, and caring for the 127 house plants I currently have in my apartment.
